What is Gurukula System?

System of education blending the ancient wisdom of this land with modern knowledge.

Who can apply and how?

Any student of the age of 15-16, who has completed his SSLC or equivalent exam is eligible to apply or the students, who have undergone five years of education in Prabhodini Gurukulam, Hariharpura.

When does the academic year begin?

Academic year begins in first week of June every year.

How many years of education?

Five years in Veda Vijnana Gurukulam and 2 years in Veda Vijnana Shodha Samsthanam.

What are the Major areas of study ?

The main subjects areas are the Yajur Veda (Krishnayagurvediya Tattereya Shakha), Prasthanatraya (Brahmasutra, Upanishads, Bhagavadgita), Yoga darshana, Indian Philosophical systems, Sanskrit grammar, Purva Meemamsa shastram, Samskrit Literature and Communicative English.

How are the financial requirements met?

By the Society & Charitable donations

Whether the educated boys get adjusted with the society outside?

Various forms of activities are arranged for the boys while they are studying in Gurukula to mingle with the society. (conducting camps and festivals, teaching in schools outside etc.) Thus they will be in a position to deal with the society taking suitable decisions, organizing skills and managing critical situations.

What next, after Gurukula education?

After 7 years of Gurukula-education, some students become Acharyas in various gurukulams around the country. Some of them pursue research while some others teach in various universities.

Can one simultaneously appear for other Bachelor’s / Master’s degree while he is pursing education in Gurukula?

This institution is recognized by the Karnataka Samskrit University which offers courses at the bachelors degree and Post Graduate degree level in various Shastras.
